It's The Grilling Season Opener

Summer is here, and so is outdoor barbecue season. If it’s been months since you last donned your chef’s apron, and your burger-flipping arm is out of shape, never fear. Follow our 5 simple steps to get back in the game, wow your guests and make this a grilling year to remember.

Rescue your grill from storage. Roll out your faithful friend from its hiding spot in the garage or porch. Depending on how you left it, a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth might be all the care it needs. But if your good ol’ grill is still wearing last year’s ash and grease, it may require more intensive grill TLC.

Plan an amazing menu. This will be, quite possibly, the first taste of barbecue you and your guests have had since last fall. So naturally, the food has got to be outstanding. LAWRY’S® makes it easy by providing a complete menu, everything from salads to sweets and what’s sizzling on the grill. Check out our great grilling recipes.
Beat the grocery store rush. If the forecast for Saturday says sunny and warm, don’t wait till Friday after work to hit the supermarket. Carve out time during the week for your grocery run, to beat the crowds and have the best pick of the meats, veggies and other party ingredients.

Start the fire early. When your guests pull up to your curb, you want the delicious aroma of grilled meat to greet them—not the smell of freshly applied lighter fluid. If you’re working with a charcoal or wood-burning grill, leave yourself plenty of time to get the fire going, in case things don’t go exactly as planned.

If you’re really out of practice, do a trial run the evening before the big event.

Enjoy yourself! Nothing is more frustrating than reuniting family and friends, then being unable to socialize because you’re chained to the grill. Do as much prep work as possible before the party starts, and ask a family member or two to share your grilling duties.

And remember, even if a few burgers get burned, or you run out of potato salad, the most important thing is that everyone’s together, and having a great time!
