EIGHT-LAYER TORTE

Makes: 4 main-dish or 12 appetizers.
 

EIGHT-LAYER TORTE

Ingredients

1 package Lawry's® Taco

1 cup sour cream

1 can (16 oz.) refried beans

6 (8-in.) burrito size OR 4 (10-in.) burrito size*

1 can (15 oz.) black beans, drained

1 medium tomato, chopped

1 can (2-1/4 oz.) sliced black olives, drained

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (about 4 oz.)

1 large avocado, chopped

1/4 cup chopped green onions

Directions

1. Combine 2 teaspoons Lawry's® Taco Spices & Seasonings with sour cream; set aside.

 

2. Combine remaining Taco Spices & Seasoning with refried beans; set aside.

 

3. On two plates, arrange 2 small tortillas. Top each tortilla with 1/4 of the refried bean mixture, black beans, tomato, olives, cheese, avocado, sour cream mixture and green onions, spreading toppings towards outer edge of tortillas. Top each with a tortilla. Repeat layer, ending with a tortilla. Serve immediately or wrap tortes with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.

 

4. To serve, warm slightly in the microwave and slice into wedges with serrated knife. Serve, if desired, with salsa.

 

* If using large tortillas, use 1/3 toppings for each layer.

 

Variation: Use a second package of Lawry's ® Taco OR Hot Taco Spices & Seasonings and 1 pound ground beef, prepared according to package directions. Add layer of beef between refried beans and black beans.
